  1. Volunteer with the Alum Rock Trail Crew!

    August 10, 8:45 AM - 1:00 PM @ Alum Rock Park

    Like to be active? Enjoy natural landscapes? Is hiking a favorite hobby? If yes, please join us every 2nd Saturday for the Alum Rock Trail Crew! Volunteers hike to a work site, improve the trails by leveling pathways, trimming back greenery growth and accomplishing other tasks that make the dirt trails safe for all! All tools and training provided Please wear sturdy shoes, as the trails are uneven Bring a filled water bottle that you can carry with you If desired, pack your own snack A hat and sunscreen are recommended Volunteering in nature is a great way to exercise, enjoy the fresh air and sunshine, while making a difference in our local park!

    Fascinated by bees? Become a backyard beekeeper. Happy Hollow Park & Zoo teaches the basics of beekeeping and equipment needs. Instructor Steve Demkowski, the Park & Zoo’s resident beekeeper and owner of Willow Glen Honey, will teach those interested hands-on hive management, bee installation, swarm gathering, honey harvesting, mite control and hives prepping for the winter.
