Generation to Generation Engagement through Cooking at Mayfair

Over the course of eight weeks, two generations came together to share each other’s culture and knowledge through food and cooking at the Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services Mayfair Community Center. Ace Empower Academy student participants have learned new recipes and life experiences from the center’s older adult participants. These activities are funded through a grant from the Health Trust, a nonprofit organization founded in 1996 to provide health related grants, policies and services to promote equitable health. The City’s Gen2Gen program aims to address ageism through meaningful interactions between generations through volunteer opportunities for older adults. For more information, contact Neil Rufino, Deputy Director, at 408-535-3576.
